In August 2022 Maastricht was the host city for the global congress of Intersteno – International Federation for Information and Communication Processing. For no less than seven days, hundreds of congress attendees met in Maastricht to exchange new fast writing techniques. They also competed in the world championships for technical communication in fast and error-free typing, taking minutes and correcting texts.
During Intersteno, companies and associations that use stenotyping, speech or other quick-writing techniques for producing text and covering speeches come together. Every two years, the global congress attracts students and professionals from around the world. Participants from twenty-two countries, including Argentina, Ghana, Iceland, Japan, and the United States met at the conference venue Hotel Crowne Plaza in Maastricht.
