Each month, we aim our spotlight at one of our regional partners. What are the developments within their company? What are the challenges? In short: you will not only get to know the person, but also their company. This month’s In the spotlight guest is Marieke Höfte, director of STAYEN, multi functional conference and business centre in and around the soccer stadium of STVV.
1. Why did you choose the position you have now?
My husband Roland Duchatelet and I have expanded this soccer stadium into a multi functional complex with 77 hotel rooms, 34 meeting and conference rooms varying from 35 m2 to 2400 m2, restaurants, bars, Fitness&Wellness, 9 indoor petanque courses, an office centre and a shopping centre.
2. What are the most recent developments within your company?
We are thoroughly reorganising standard operating procedures and we are renovating the adjacent courtyard barn to add 25 extra hotel rooms and a function room with a capacity of 120 persons to our existing facilities.
3. Which challenges are you facing?
Our biggest challenge is to market the multi functionality of our facilities. Stayen offers more possibilities than can be described. To see it is to love it. Our company motto is to bring as many clients to our location as possible, so that they can see and experience the endless possibilities.
4. What have you achieved, of which you are most proud?
With Stayen we have shown that a soccer stadium can be so much more that just a location that is used twice a month. Stayen is a complete leisure experience.
5. What does the Maastricht Convention Bureau mean to you?
It is an interesting network to participate in and to promote Stayen across the borders.
