Maastricht has a long tradition of hosting events and conferences. Our congress community sets the bar high and our partners motivate each other to go the extra mile. Once again, these efforts are rewarded. Our regional venues have just won 3 out of 4 Dutch national Meeting Awards for best meeting and event venues in the Netherlands:
Best Meeting Location 2021: Château St. Gerlach
Château St. Gerlach owes the award in particular to the multifunctional St. Gerlach Pavilion that has been in operation at the estate since early 2017. The pavilion, with a capacity of up to 1,000 people, is a state of the art concept by the Dutch renowned architect Francine Houben (known from designs for The New York Public Library and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library). It is the second time in four years that Château St. Gerlach has won the award for ‘Best Meeting Location of the Year’.
Best Conference Location 2021: MECC Maastricht
Conference center MECC, now with the capacity to host 5,000 delegates, reaped the benefits of the revamp by winning the award for Best Conference Location. According to MECC, the revitalization was the perfect move to remain competitive with (inter)national centers and to continue to meet the high demands of conference organizers and participants.
Winning the award for the ‘Best Congress Venue 2021’ feels like ‘the icing on the cake’ for the management of MECC Maastricht, according to commercial director Frank Mimpen. We are extremely proud of our new conference center and the opportunities that we can offer. Several international organizers have recently praised our new convention center. It is great that these positive reactions from our customers are now being confirmed.”
Best Training Location 2021: Castle farm de Grote Hegge
The best Training Location is situated in the idyllic white village of Thorn, in the Maastricht region. The Castle farm is surrounded by nature and provides break-out rooms in the surrounding gardens.
