Maastricht welcomed global meetings industry leaders during the IAPCO Council Meeting

On 22 May, Maastricht hosted the IAPCO Council Meeting, bringing together influential representatives from the international meetings industry. The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen connections with key decision-makers and showcase the Maastricht region as a leading destination for international conferences and association meetings.
IAPCO Council Meeting 2026 in Maastricht
The International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) represents a global network of accredited Professional Congress Organisers (PCOs). Together, IAPCO members delivered more than 23,500 meetings and events worldwide in 2025, bringing together over 7.7 million participants.
During the council meeting, delegates explored key developments shaping the future of the meetings industry, including geopolitical trends and the growing impact of artificial intelligence. Hosted at MECC Maastricht, the programme also brought together representatives from academia, government and business, demonstrating the strength of collaboration within the Limburg region.
Showcasing Maastricht & Limburg
Alongside the official meetings at Crowne Plaza Maastricht and MECC Maastricht, participants were introduced to the region’s hospitality, culture and culinary heritage. The programme included a boat tour with Rederij Stiphout on the River Meuse, as well as visits to Thiessen Wijnkoopers and Château Neercanne.
Hosting the IAPCO Council Meeting provided a valuable opportunity to showcase Maastricht’s expertise, accessibility and collaborative ecosystem to influential professionals who play a key role in selecting destinations for international conferences and events.
