Maastricht, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and scenic landscapes, is gearing up to provide an even more immersive experience for conference delegates with a series of exciting expansions in its hospitality sector.

The following developments are set to enhance the city’s allure. Continuing its legacy as a family business for 112 years, hotel Beaumont is set to unveil 62 renovated rooms, crafted to exude luxury and sophistication. The monumental hotel also hosts restaurant Harry’s and the Founders Bar, where guests can enjoy the sophisticated atmosphere of upscale lounges found in iconic cities like New York, London, Paris, and Cannes, all open seven days a week.

The grand, late 17th-century property of Château Neercanne is home to an exceptional restaurant and accommodation that invites guests to savor its heritage. Château Neercanne now offers seven exquisitely appointed suites, providing guests with the opportunity to indulge in premium accommodation within the historic estate. Each guest suite blends historical and modern elements and offers access to the private baroque gardens, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hotel Vaeshartelt, nestled in a picturesque landscape park in Maastricht, boasts 83 luxurious hotel rooms along with an exquisite hotel suite. Recently, Vaeshartelt has expanded its offerings by taking over the operation of the adjacent estate, complete with a villa and playground. The centuries-old villa has been meticulously restored with great care, now serving as a premier event venue. Villa Delbrock features three historic halls and a reception area with a conservatory. Moreover, the Villa accommodates up to 100 guests for a seated dinner and over 200 guests for a standing reception, making it an ideal setting for memorable social events.

Expansion plans

In addition to these ongoing developments, several hotels in Maastricht also have significant expansion plans underway.

The five-star Kruisherenhotel, situated within a 15th-century monastery, is planning to expand its offerings with an additional 50 hotel rooms, a fine casual restaurant, and a versatile event space for up to 150 guests. Architect Francine Houben, renowned for her work with Mecanoo and the New York Public Library, will lead this transformative project.

Van der Valk Hotel Maastricht is embarking on a new venture with the acquisition of a former office building, strategically located between the city centre and the MECC Maastricht conference centre. This ‘Valk Exclusive Hotel’ will boast approximately 110 rooms/suites, rooftop wellness & fitness facilities, a city garden, and a conservatory offering panoramic views of the river Meuse, with an anticipated opening in the second half of 2025.

Commitment to excellence

As Maastricht continues to enhance its hospitality offerings with the expansion of renowned hotels and luxury accommodations, it strenghtens its position as a premier destination for business travelers and conference attendees. This commitment to excellence extends to the culinary scene, as evidenced by Maastricht’s selection as the venue for the Dutch unveiling of the prestigious Michelin star guide for restaurants over the next three years. The inaugural ceremony is scheduled for October 7, 2024, coinciding with the BBB hospitality trade fair at the MECC Maastricht.
