Belgium and the Netherlands bring Europe’s leading science and high-tech
industry together in Maastricht

Big Science Business Forum 2026 (BSBF2026) connects companies directly with 19
Big Science Organisations who are planning more than €25 billion worth of investments
up to 2030. From 27 to 30 October 2026, Belgium and the Netherlands will welcome Europe’s
leading Big Science organisations, research institutions and high-tech companies to
Maastricht for the fourth edition of the Big Science Business Forum BSBF2026). More
than 1,200 participants are expected to attend.

The ten hosting Big Science Organisations, including CERN, ESA, ESO, ESS, ESRF,
European XFEL, FAIR, Fusion for Energy, ILL and SKAO, and 9 Associated Big
Science Organisations; DTT, ELI, ESS-Bilbao, EST, IFMIF-DONES, INFN, MYRRHA
and PETRA-IV, will present their future technology needs, procurement programmes
and procurement plans. Together, they represent more than €25 billion in planned
investments up to 2030, giving companies direct insight into upcoming projects and
opportunities for collaboration.

BSBF2026 gives companies direct access to the people behind these investments.
Through technical sessions, pre-arranged B2B meetings, the exhibition and direct
contact with procurement officers, engineers and project managers, participants gain
first hand insight into upcoming projects, procurement procedures and technology
roadmaps. The technological challenges faced by Big Science rank among the most
demanding in the world. They require expertise in areas such as precision engineering,
cryogenics, data and software, advanced materials, sensors, vacuum technology, and
complex mechanical and electronic systems and the upcoming artificial intelligence
domain. Companies developing solutions for these demanding environments often
strengthen their technological capabilities and apply the resulting innovations in
sectors such as energy, aerospace, healthcare, semiconductors and advanced
manufacturing.

By jointly organising BSBF2026, Belgium and the Netherlands build on a long tradition
of collaboration in areas such as nuclear research, semiconductors, nanotechnology
and photonics. Their joint efforts to develop technologies needed for a future Einstein
Telescope in Europe demonstrate how cross-border cooperation between science,
industry and governments can accelerate technological innovation, create new
business opportunities and strengthen Europe's research landscape.

More than a conference, BSBF2026 is Europe's meeting place for companies looking
to become part of the Big Science supply chain. By bringing together research
infrastructures, industry and policymakers, the forum creates new partnerships,
accelerates technology transfer and helps companies position themselves for future
procurement and innovation opportunities.

België en Nederland brengen Europa’s toonaangevende wetenschap en
hightechindustrie samen in Maastricht

Big Science Business Forum 2026 (BSBF2026) brengt bedrijven rechtstreeks in

Samen
