Victoria Ibbertson, Conference Officer of the European Science Foundation (ESF)

"We are very happy to go ahead and use MECC for this event (E2C 2012). Thank you again for all your hard work on this bid and I look forward to working with you the coming months."

Past-President Frank von Sonnenburg and future President (President-Elect) Fiona Genasi of International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM)

“The International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM), a truly international scientific membership organisation, is delighted to bring its 13th International conference to the Netherlands, and to Maastricht, in 2013. The city is a truly international, European city on the cross roads between the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, which fits very well with the international nature of the ISTM membership. The city is charming and has good restaurants and cafes, both indoor and outdoor, but is compact enough to ensure the delegates will meet and socialize outside the conference venue as they explore the city. It is a city with an ideal size for a conference of approximately 1,500-2,000 delegates and the venue is ideally sized for a conference of our magnitude. The offer has been very competitive and the city gave the evaluation team the feeling that Maastricht is a really welcoming host and we look forward to enjoying that hospitality in 2013.”

Dr Robin Grant, President, European Association of Neuro-oncology (EANO)

"In the venue, we are looking for something that is adaptable, because we often have sessions going on in parallel, so there's got to be sufficient rooms that we can use for these, yet there's got to be a larger auditorium that will hold everyone for the plenary sessions. We're looking for good accommodation in the city, a nice city that will attract people to the conference, and hopefully keeping the costs of travel etcetera down. Sometimes it's important to have a conference in a place that is easy to get in to." Click here for a film about Maastricht, and here for a film about the EANO Congress in Maastricht in 2010.

Muriel Hallet, Events & Industry Relations Senior Manager, ESTRO (European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology)

"In August-September 2009, the 10th Biennial conference will take place in Maastricht. We expect around 2,500 delegates. Maastricht has been in the bidding process for 6 years and they were really eager to get this conference. The main problem, and the reason why they have failed in the past, was their hotel capacity. For the 2009 conference, they have met the challenge by booking 90% of the hotel capacity... So we finally have the opportunity to work together." Click here to read an article.

Johannes L.H. Evers, M.D. Professor, Maastricht University

"Maastricht is a small city with a large conference centre, MECC Maastricht. For medium sized conferences -ours had 2400 participants- this means that one has the best of both worlds: a large enough venue to meet and a small enough downtown to bump into old friends, make new ones, and elaborate on the theme of the day. The staff was helpful and accommodating. We will be back."

Paul Hustinx, Director, The European Fine Art Foundation

"For many years now, art lovers and art collectors from around the world have been finding their way to MECC Maastricht to attend our international art and antiques fair, TEFAF. The good hotels, Maastricht rich history and central location in Europe, and MECC Maastricht superb facilities all guarantee the perfect ambience and a successful fair, year after year."

Bernie Brilman, Party Organiser, Voorburg

"A market leader in IT asked us to come up with an unforgettable, innovative party concept for 7,000 people. The party will undoubtedly linger long in their memories. Maastricht's hotels are warm and welcoming and vary from traditional to ultra-modern. To me, MECC Maastricht and Maastricht mean taking the most up-to-date approach to business in an historical setting."

H. Boerakker, Director Marketing Benelux, SAP

"Every year the Dutch SAP Users Conference proves to be very appreciated. A very interesting programme, and plenty of opportunity to socialize. Maastricht is the perfect setting to guide the participants along different continents in the field of catering and entertainment. The combination of historic, modern and beautiful surroundings provides for information, inspiration and motivation."

J.A.E. Pijnenborg, Chairman Organising Committee, 15th ISMS Conference

"It is not only the programme that will make or break a conference. There are numerous other factors involved. Initially the Organising Committee was unaware of these factors and inexperienced. A lot of time would have been lost, and time, more than anything else, is money. That's why we have decided to work with a Professional Congress Organiser (PCO)."

Prof. Dr. Jouwert Stapert, Trauma Surgeon, Organising Committee

"After many successful meetings of the Gerhard Küntscher Society in Germany, we were engaged to organise the first meeting in Maastricht. We had to compose an interesting programme. Professional audiovisual support is of tremendous importance. Maastricht offers a splendid scala of locations where atmosphere, catering, service and hospitality leave a good impression. Maastricht, the art of fine living…."

Simon Parker, Group Director Exhibitions, CMP Information.

"Maastricht is perfectly located to enable the Air Traffic Control (ATC) conference and exhibition to attract a truly international audience and has been key in the spectacular growth of the event over the last nine years. Furthermore, the venue MECC Maastricht is run by an expert group of people in an enthusiastic and professional manner.
