Since 1994 the foundation “Zweit veur Leid” organises a unique sponsored run. The idea is running (sweating = “zweiten”) together for charity (suffering = “leid”). Since then “Zweit veur Leid’ has brought up more than €550.000,- thanks to the many sponsors, volunteers and participants. On Saturday the 7th of January the next edition will take place.
The participants will run a circuit of 3,2 km through the city centre of Maastricht. Participants can choose to run 2,3 or 4 rounds. Inspiring ‘mark places’ will make sure that there is ‘control’ on running the whole circuit. Afterwards you can enjoy a nice Brand beer, a glass of wine or soda in the foyer of the “Theater aan het Vrijthof”.
Donations will be made to the next charities:
Sevagram: the singing crosswalk
In cooperation with PCdata and the education “electrical techniques” of Zuyd University, Sevagram will develop the “singing crosswalk”. When walking on this innovative crosswalk you can hear all kinds of musical sounds. By being invited to move and keep on moving on this interactive, creative and alternative way, moving will lead to a lot of fun and joy!
Supportersassociation MVV – An adapted tribune for supporters who are disabled in the Geusselt stadium
The Geusselt stadium has no facilities for supporters who are disabled. For a corporate soccer association this is not acceptable. That’s why MVV has the ambition to realise an adapted tribune for the season 2012-2013. The supporters association will make a significant contribution with “Zweit veur Leid”.
Lions Club Maastricht – Vrienden Kankeronderzoekfonds Limburg (Friends Cancer Research fund Limburg)
In the “Vrienden Kankeronderzoekfonds Limburg” the Lions Club has found the right regional partner to give cancer research an impuls. The “Vrienden kankeronderzoekfonds Limburg” is a business club for entrepreneurs which raises extra money and funds for medical scientific cancer research in the Maastricht UMC+. Gifts will be used for research on new treatment methods and care for cancer patients in Limburg.
Participation is possible via sponsors or a payment of €25,- per person.
Come and run for charity!
