World Championship Road Cycling 2012

From Saturday the 15th of September 2012 till Sunday the 23rd of September 2012 the World Championship road cycling will take place in the heart of Europe. The World Championship is an annual road cycling competition and will be held in a different country each year.

For the fifth time the race-course cross trough 14 communities in the South of Limburg and the finish will take place at the famous hill “de Cauberg”. “De Cauberg” was the stop of different famous cycling competitions such as “Tour de France”, “Amstel Gold Race” and the “Dutch Championship for cycling”.
The event consists of a road race and a time trial for men, women and men under 23. It will be the 79th Road World Championships.

There is an exhibition about cycling too and it’s free for public. This exposition will take place from Monday the 17th of September 2012 till Sunday the 23th of September 2012.
Maastricht will also be a part of the World Championship 2012. On Thursday the 20th of September 2012 there is an UCI convention and there will be a Junior conference.

The Netherlands last hosted the Road World Championships in 1998 in Valkenburg aan de Geul and will be the fifth time in total that the country has hosted the championships.
