Red Bull Crashed Ice Event

It will remain cold in the country for a few more days, but in Valkenburg they don’t seem to mind. For the second time the Red Bull Crashed Ice Event has been organised in this city.

On the Sunday afternoon at the 15th of January Landgoed Altembrouck will organise an unique New Year’s coffee concert at the estate.

Magisch Maastricht (Magical Maastricht)

This winter the historical city centre of Maastricht will be decorated in Christmas style. Breathtaking decorated and lighted streets connect the Maastricht squares and on several locations in the city centre you can taste the Christmas atmosphere and enjoy typical winter activities. On the famous square the Vrijthof a 800m2 large ice skating course will appear, as well as a Christmas market, a grand carrousel and a real Christmas stable.There are also booths with waffles, “oliebollen” and Glühwein.

Zweit veur leid

Since 1994 the foundation “Zweit veur Leid” organises a unique sponsored run. The idea is running (sweating = “zweiten”) together for charity (suffering = “leid”). Since then “Zweit veur Leid’ has brought up more than €550.000,- thanks to the many sponsors, volunteers and participants. On Saturday the 7th of January the next edition will take place.

Sinterklaas aan de Maas

The cultural event “Sinterklaas aan de Maas” is the beginning  of the special holidays in Maastricht which will be continued with Magisch Maastricht. From Saturday the 12th of November 2011 until the 4th of December 2011 Saint Nicholas (Sinterklaas) will have his residence in one of the boats of Rederij Stiphout . The boat will be transformed to a real “Spain-valley”!

Stainless Steel World Conference & Expo

This year the Stainless Steel World Conference & Expo will be held for the seventh time in MECC Maastricht , The Netherlands, from Tuesday, 29 November to Thursday, 1 December 2011. It will be the meeting place for around 270 conference delegates, 240 exhibiting companies, and will be visited by approximately 6000 middle-to-higher management decision makers.

Global Culture Festival

From the 24th of November until the 27th of November the Global Culture Festival Maastricht will take place. This festival offers a great artistic range of musical expressions from a non western world. The basic principle of this festival is the equivalence of cultures and individuals and the aiming for artistic quality.  Music from Mali, Flamenco mixed with Arabic and gipsy music, Afrobeat, folk & blues mixed with Arabic music and even a concert in the dark!

World Press Photo exposition

Every fall Centre Céramique (city library in Maastricht) houses the World Press Photo. This travelling, internationally known and unique exposition is the result of the yearly competition for press photography.

Light show on Vrijthof square
