First full sustainable floating house in the world in Maastricht

The water house, called Autarkhome, from the architect Pieter Kromwijk of Maastricht is the first completely sustainable floating house in the world. Socially responsible techniques which were applied during the realisation of this unique project make the water house ten times more energy efficient in comparison to an average house.

Pieter Kromwijk, the architect of this sustainable building, has made optimal use of the sustainable possibilities which are available in the market. The house is fully self-sufficient in the field of energy demands (electricity, warmth and water). The floating house is in line with the initiative of the municipality of Maastricht to promote sustainable building for a sustainable Maastricht.
